Samara Arena, also known as the Cosmos Arena, is a sports facility in Samara constructed intentionally for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. It was completed in 2018, and opened the same year on April 28 with a league match between Football Clubs Fakel Voronezh and Krylia Sovetov.
The Stadium also serves as the home of the Football Club Krylia Sovetov Samara, having capacity of 44,918.
The Cosmos Arena was selected to become one of the 12 playing venues of the 2018 FIFA World Cup; hosting six games, including the four group-stage games between Costa Rica- Serbia, Denmark-Australia, Uruguay- Russia, Senegal-Colombia, a round-of-16 match, and one-quarter final.
